History of Bereza Iron Works, Inc.

John Bereza who was trained in Europe as an Iron craftsman lived in Philadelphia prior to arriving in Rochester, NY in 1910 in search of work. He applied to work for an iron shop Faucher- Mac Murray, Inc as a head foreman and was hired. Mac Murry passed away and Faucher took on John as a partner in 1928.  They then incorporated the business as Faucher-Bereza in 1933. John was then elected president of the company in 1940 due to the passing of Faucher.

In 1944 John appointed his son Sylvester as Vice President. The business name was changed in 1948 to Bereza Iron Works, Inc. Upon John passing away, his son Sylvester and son in-law Michael Goy were elected as President and Secretary-Treasurer in 1956. Sylvester appointed his mother Joesphine as Vice President in the same year. After some time Sylvester & Michael hired their own sons John Bereza & William Goy who became President & Vice President in 1977.

In 1981 John Bereza tragically passed away in an automobile accident & his father Sylvester passed away the following year. William Goy was then promoted to President and elected his sister Irene Gratton as Vice President. Irene retired in 2005.
